Copper has been at the forefront of design for a few years now and it is certainly finding it’s place within the kitchen.
The material can really add a modern twist to your space whilst still remaining elegant and simple. Here at Anthony Edwards we have started working with copper within many of our projects. Statement lighting is one item that copper can really work for. Within one of our Petersfield kitchens, we showcased a beautiful set of copper pendant lights – that were featured on Houzz in a recent ideabook of theirs. They also caught the attention of Aidan Keane when this kitchen was featured on Channel 4’s Big House, Little House back in April. They worked well to make a powerful statement against the white aesthetic and more muted tones.
We’ve also used copper more extensively, in the form of worktops and bespoke shelves. A Hawkley kitchen of ours used the Anthony Edwards Modern Country style as a starting point to mix a beautiful homely layout with an eye-catching, dynamic copper worktop. The copper finish isn’t overused but it brings a quirky spin to the kitchen.
Copper, along with rose gold and brass, can really bring a sense of warmth and cosiness into the house. In a kitchen it can be the perfect addition to make a design statement. It’s certainly not for everyone but it is something that can be brought into the kitchen in any scale.
Copper can be used in so many unique ways. There are more and more copper pieces emerging on the market that can provide a simple but pleasing touch to your kitchen. A copper kettle, a copper clock or a copper cutlery set: the possibilities are endless.
